Temporary Tattoos Reveal Alcohol Level

A temporary tattoo may track your alcohol levels and give results in eight minutes. This new monitoring tool will help people monitor their alcohol intake discreetly by transmitting their alcohol levels to a cell phone connected to the program. The engineers who developed the program at UCSD say that this device is a tiny wearable one that is much like a temporary tattoo.

One way that people could accidentally be exposed to DUI charges is when they don’t feel inebriated but have drunk enough alcohol to read high on a BAC test. Now, this new tool may help people detect their own alcohol level.

Tattoo Could Prevent DUIs

Research presented in Science Daily shows that it operates by encouraging perspiration, that is then used to calculate the alcohol level on a person’s system. Someone who is out drinking may use this temporary tattoo-like tool to tell if they are under the influence of alcohol. This could increase their chances of a disorderly person charge or a drunk driving charge.

This biosensing patch has flexible wireless components included and it senses the electrical current that is flowing in the generated sweat. This measures levels of alcohol and then transmits them to the person’s phone. The primary thing that people should know about this program is that it takes minutes rather than hours.

Preventing Drinking and Driving with New Patch

Although measuring alcohol and sweat was tried in the past, that technology took up to three hours to identify alcohol levels. But the creators of the patch say that this can present results in just eight minutes, being a powerful tool for people who ultimately end up using it.
