Man Accused of Fatal Shooting at Atlantic City Outlet Mall, Charged with Murder

South Jersey Criminal Defense LawyersThe man who allegedly committed a violent shooting at an outlet mall in Atlantic City NJ has been formally charged with murder.

The fatal shooting incident went down around 12:00 p.m. at The Walk, a popular outlet mall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. According to authorities, the suspect entered the Zumiez store at the shopping mall and shot a store worker.

The victim, a 26-year-old male from Absecon NJ, sustained multiple wounds in the shooting. Although emergency medical responders were quick in getting to the scene and transporting the victim to nearby AtlantiCare Medical Center, he died shortly after the shooting.

When Atlantic City cops arrived at the scene of the violent incident, they found the victim and the suspect – both of whom were suffering from gunshot wounds. It is believed that the suspect turned the handgun on himself and shot himself in the head. He was transported to the Atlantic City hospital and treated by doctors.

According to law enforcement, the suspect fatally shot the victim at the Zumiez store and then ran to the White House Black Market store. The suspect then reportedly pointed his handgun at another person before ultimately deciding to shoot himself.

The 55-year-old suspect is from Somers Point, New Jersey. He faces numerous criminal charges in connection with the shooting, including first degree murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The suspect also faces a certain persons offense for being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Once the suspect has fully recovered from his injury, he is likely to be held at the Atlantic County Jail on a massive $1 million bail amount. The suspect is currently being guarded by Atlantic City police officers stationed just outside his hospital room.
