Police Arrest Man Suspected of Shooting Person on Atlantic City Street

South Jersey Criminal AttorneysAtlantic City police recently arrested a local man accused of shooting someone on a city street. The shooting resulted in the victim suffering significant injuries, but it did not prove fatal.

The violent incident occurred a short time after 2:00 a.m. near the intersection of South Carolina Avenue and Baltic Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The victim was walking on South Carolina Avenue when the suspect allegedly approached the victim and used a handgun to fire multiple gunshots. The Atlantic City Police Department received a report of gunshots being fired and immediately sent police officers to the area.

The victim, a 21-year-old male from Atlantic City, sustained serious injuries as a result of the shooting. He was rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in AC, where doctors treated him for his injuries and stabilized his condition. Thankfully, the victim was expected to fully recover from his injuries and was said to be in no danger of dying due to his gunshot wounds.

Atlantic City police officers quickly apprehended a man believed to be the shooter. The man was reportedly driving a car near the location of the shooting around 2:00 a.m. and was stopped by police officers canvassing the surrounding area in search of the suspect. A search of the suspect’s motor vehicle allegedly turned up a handgun, so the driver was placed under arrest.

However, Atlantic City detectives now believe that the first man arrested in connection with the South Carolina Avenue shooting may have been involved in a separate shooting, not this one.

Meanwhile, Atlantic City police continued to investigate the South Carolina Avenue shooting and received a tip that led them to the suspect. Police eventually located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

The suspect, a 31-year-old man who lives in Atlantic City, NJ, faces a number of criminal charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

After being arrested and charged, the suspect was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail amount.
