Fetty Wap Faces Serious Traffic Charges after Motorcycle Crash
Rapper Fetty Wap, of “Trap Queen” fame is recovering from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash in his hometown of Paterson NJ last weekend. While his injuries weren’t life-threatening, Willie Maxwell’s (his real name) problems are far from over.
After trying to get around one car and being hit by another, Maxwell, 25, was taken to the hospital. So was the female driver of the car in the accident. However, police weren’t far behind. He received three serious traffic violations: driving without a license, driving without registration and driving without insurance.
A driving without a license ticket in NJ can be the result of one of three things. Which of these applies to Wap has not been made clear in the media.
- You have a license but you don’t have it on you at the time of the traffic stop (or accident).
- You let your driving privileges expire or you never had a license to drive in the State of new Jersey.
- You were driving while your license was suspended or revoked.
If you are guilty of the first option, you can show proof of license to a judge and will likely be forced to pay a fine and be subjected to two points. Being convicted of either of the other two scenarios can land you in a world of trouble.
If you don’t have a license or allowed it to expire, you can be fined between $250 and $500 and may not be allowed to get a driver’s license for up to six months. Plus, the judge can attach four motor vehicle points to your license.
If you were caught driving with a suspended or revoked license, it’s a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to $1,200 or up to $2,000 and no more than one year in jail (if your charges are upgraded to a Class A misdemeanor.)
Traffic tickets for driving without insurance and registration can be even more serious.
