Facing Drug Distribution Charges in New Jersey? Don’t Go It Alone

On any given day, it seems, New Jersey police departments are staying true to their word to crack down on drug distribution in the Garden State. In fact, on March 3, a New Jersey man pleaded guilty to drug charges following his arrest back in 2009. Frank Stilo, 52, pleaded guilty to 26 counts of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Oxycodone), and 11 counts of Conspiracy to Obtain a Controlled Dangerous Substance (also Oxycodone) by fraud.

Each of these 37 counts are considered a third degree offense, and a third degree offense comes with a penalty of up to five years in prison and up to $35,000 in fines. The 2009 arrest, all charges and Stilo’s guilty plea came as a result of the joint investigation involving police from several New Jersey towns and the NJ state police. The charges include making arrangements for the distribution of Oxycodone and obtaining fraudulent prescriptions of the drug. Stilo also worked with 33 co-conspirators to commit his crimes. His guilty plea was made in exchange for a reduced sentence of 12 years in prison.

Prescription drug abuse is becoming increasingly prevalent in New Jersey, and oxycodone is one of the more commonly abused prescription narcotics. Oxycodone abuse often leads to heroin abuse. New Jersey is tough on drugs, and this is especially true of prescription narcotics, such as oxycodone.
