Egg Harbor Township Men Allegedly Attacked, Violently Robbed Acquaintance

South Jersey Criminal AttorneysPolice recently arrested two men accused of committing a violent robbery in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

The two suspects are local men who allegedly got into a dispute with the victim, who is also a resident of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. At this time, it is unclear what might have prompted the dispute, but Egg Harbor NJ police indicated that the suspects became upset with the victim and decided to target him for violent retribution.

According to law enforcement, the suspects committed the criminal act on September 25, 2016. The suspects allegedly waited for the victim as he walked along the bike path near Spruce Avenue in Egg Harbor, NJ. When the suspects saw the victim, they reportedly attacked him and stole his wallet.

The victim sustained significant physical injuries as a result of the assault and needed to be hospitalized.

Detectives with the Egg Harbor Township Police Department investigated the violent incident and identified the two suspects: a 24-year-old local resident and a 25-year-old local resident. Police officers soon located the suspects and placed them under arrest.

The suspects have been charged with a number of very serious criminal offenses, including robbery, aggravated assault, theft of movable property, and criminal mischief.

If the suspects are ultimately convicted on the most serious charged of robbery, they could end up spending a very long time behind bars. That’s because N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1 of the New Jersey Criminal Code classifies robbery as a first degree felony if the offender purposely inflicts serious bodily injury during the commission of a theft. In this case, the suspects could potentially face sentences of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.

After being apprehended and charged, the suspects were transported to the Atlantic County Jail in Mays Landing, NJ. Both suspects were being held at the correctional facility in lieu of bail amounts.
