STATE v. HENDRICKS — NEW JERSEY MURDER TRIAL — "NOT GUILTY" VERDICT

Mr. Tumelty represented Helena Hendricks, who was charged with first degree murder in Atlantic County Superior Court. The defendant faced a number of additional charges, including armed robbery, conspiracy and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose. At the conclusion of a jury trial that lasted three weeks, the defendant was found "not guilty" of all charges.

Cumberland County NJ Marks First Month with No Homicides in 2014

As celebrations go, this one may be rather unusual. And, it’s not like there’s a party going on. However, if you are Cumberland County, NJ, having no murders reported during a month is big news.

Prior to September 2014, Cumberland County reported at least one homicide every month in 2014. In fact, there were four murders reported in August – the number of homicides that occurred in Cumberland County, NJ in all of 2013.

So far, 15 people have been killed here in the first three quarter of 2014. Six murders occurred in Bridgeton, four in Millville, two in Vineland, two in Commercial Township and one in Fairfield Township. While police did respond to two deaths in September in Cumberland County, neither was ruled suspicious.
