Appellate Court Fails to Overturn Cape May County’s Major White Collar Conviction

It was a good plan, until it wasn’t anymore. That’s what Troy Blevin, the principal of Somers Point, NJ-based Bamcoe Construction is probably thinking now that he has lost an appeal of his 2012 second degree [nl_link id=’339′]theft[/nl_link] conviction this week.

Blevin allowed his clients to think he was taking their money and using it to by steel and other items needed to construct a development in Ocean City. However, according to court papers, he didn’t buy steal and he forged paperwork and emails to cover his tracks. Meanwhile the three buildings in the development were not built. Blevin was found guilty in a trial and had to make restitution in the amount of $949,689. Plus, he was sentenced to seven years in jail.

Blevin, 51, tried to get the sentence tossed by insisting the cross examination in his trial violated his rights and that he didn’t receive a fair trial. He lost that bid when an appellate court ruled this week that “The testimonial and documentary evidence that defendant committed the charged crime was overwhelming.”
