Absecon Celeb Doctor’s Arrest Shines New Light on AC’s Drug Culture

An Atlantic City doctor who treated many high-profile patients when they visited New Jersey was recently indicted on drug trafficking charges after a three-month investigation by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Dr. Alan Faustino of Absecon, NJ, could face life in prison if convicted of the charges. Faustino has treated David Lee Roth, Billy Idol, Paula Abdul, the Jonas Brothers and several other famous patients. He has also seen his fair share of financial trouble, including a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, delinquent student loans and a tax lien from the IRS. He has been released on $100,000 bail and is currently awaiting trial.

A raid and seizure of Faustino’s office turned up over 1,000 oxycodone tablets that were either prescribed or purchased fraudulently. The case is further demonstration of the strong and pervasive drug culture that currently haunts Atlantic City. It’s a problem that affects everyone regardless of cultural background or economic status. This atmosphere of substance abuse and addiction has led to the incarceration of many who simply may just be a product of their environment. If you’re facing serious drug charges, you don’t necessarily have to go straight to jail. Your lawyer may be able to help you avoid jail-time and undergo court-ordered rehab. There are several alternatives to incarceration; contact an experienced criminal defense lawyer who will fight for your freedom.

The allegations against Faustino are more serious because they suggest that he knowingly and with intent to profit, gave innocent and vulnerable people powerful prescription drugs. However, there are thousands more people in Atlantic City that get caught up in drugs often through no fault of their own. Addiction is a sickness and nobody wants to see sick people go to jail where they can’t get the help they need.

If you are facing drug charges, talk to a qualified attorney who can help you move on with your life. Contact successful criminal defense lawyer John Tumelty for a free consultation about your charges today.
